The West Kootenay RCIP June 2026 intake received 281 applications. Our staff assessed the top-scoring applications (approximately 120 applications) and the Steering Committee approved 70 candidates for community recommendations. The lowest score assessed was 91 points.
All applications that were not approved in this intake will remain in the recommendation pool for the September 2026 intake.
Being in the recommendation pool does not guarantee that an application will be assessed or receive a community recommendation. If we receive more applications than we can assess, we will assess the top-scoring applications only. The Steering Committee then decides which candidates receive community recommendations based on the strength of each application, as well as the workforce needs and priorities of the West Kootenay region.
Can I submit a new application?
Yes. If a June application was not approved, the employer may withdraw it and submit a new application for the same candidate during the September intake.
Before deciding to do this, the employer and candidate should consider:
- Is the June application score well below 91 points (the lowest score assessed in the June intake)?
- Does the employer still have applications available under their 2026 annual application cap?
- Does the employer want to use another application for the same candidate?
- Can the new application achieve a higher score?
If the employer and candidate decide to submit a new application, the June application must be withdrawn first.

- Body of the email: Employer name and candidate’s name
